18 in-between
18 in between is a site specific response to Kathryn Kng's installation at the esplanade concourse. The work addresses the spaces in between and its possibilities for breathability, expansion and design.
This site specific dance work attempts to recreate the sense of peacefulness through a visual perspective and hopes for it to resonate through the concourse, highlighting the contrast of mass chatter when the crowd breaks into their amusing from the activities in the Centre. Working within narrow spaces between the installations main material of plastic sheets, the performers approach the architecture, materiality and space with breath and subtle movement nuances.18 in between does not aim to further emphasise the politics and architectural history and design of the concourse steps. Instead, the work intends to draw attention to the spatial design "No Room To Enter" has layered upon the original space and creating an immersive experience through a dance and acoustics of the concourse
