BALL MEASURES #7 - Movement Scores
BALL MEASURES Movement Scores was supported by the Ausco-NAC Reciprocal Micro-Residency.
This iteration of BALL MEASURES focuses on building scores that acts as choreographic structures to further expand the relationship between the dancing body and other(s). Other(s) in this instance refers to the ping pong ball.
In previous iterations, the dancing body that encountered the ping pong balls were predictably trained bodies in movement based practices that were informed by their social, political, environmental, economical and cultural environments. While the outcomes of their engagements with the ball were unique to them, their movement practices stemmed from similar sources. This iteration pulled focus away from dance and introduce other bodies of disciplines in the space between the ball and the dancing body.
Scores were designed to bring further attention to the performance of the relationship with the ping-pong ball. These scores aim to eliminate movement proclivity to challenge the movement performer to multiple and new levels of perception. In a macro way, the scores will be further imprinted on other inanimate objects to reform previous definitions of movement knowledge production that were specific to our predictive nature and experiences.
